I've been enjoying the show and singing along. LOL!! Here's the list, yo. With some commentary and video links where I could find 'em! *ahem* and warning... what's behind the cut is long :

1. "Livin’ on a Prayer" - Bon Jovi
No denying this one was everywhere. Sing along now! "She says we've got to hold on to what we've got 'cause it doesn't make a difference if we make it or not. We've got each other and thats a lot for love - we'll give it a shot..." Hmmm... number one though? Interesting. Video (amazing live acoustic version)

2. "Pour Some Sugar On Me" - Def Leppard
Okay, I do like this one though I am surprised to see it so high on the list for some reason. "Listen! red light, yellow light, green light go! Crazy little woman in a one man show. Mirrorqueen, mannequin, rhythm of love. Sweet dream, saccharine, loosen up..." Video

3. "Hungry Like The Wolf" - Duran Duran
Ever since reading the book "Small Sacrifices" and seeing the movie made from it, I get chills hearing this song. Go read the book / see the movie sometime and you'll see why. Video

4. "Billie Jean" - Michael Jackson
These were the days when Michael was riding high on his Thriller success and everything he touched with that silver gloved hand of his turned to gold. My friends and I used to mimic this entire video down to the "moonwalk". Video

5. "When Doves Cry" - Prince
Just a fine, fine song. I got into Prince with "Purple Rain", it was the first album of his I ever owned. He's brilliant. Video

6. "I Can’t Go For That (No Can Do)" - Daryl Hall & John Oates
I was never this huge huge fan of theirs but liked a couple of their songs. This was one of them. Just like the groove running through it, and I like to sing along with the "I can't go for that no naaaaaoooohhh... no can do!" Video

7. "Sweet Child O’ Mine " - Guns N' Roses
LOVE. Just yeah. Video

8. "Like A Virgin" - Madonna
I remember when Madonna first hit really big. Everywhere you went, there were girls trying to emulate her style. You'd see the gazillion rubber bracelets, lace gloves, sunglasses. We called them "Madonnabes" (after "wannabes"). Madonna had attitude and came on like gangbusters. No escaping her. Video of her famous MTV Awards performance, from 1984.

9. "Walk This Way" - Run-D.M.C.
I thought this brilliant. Just the video alone is iconic... and it brought Aerosmith back strong as ever. Video

10. "You Shook Me All Night Long" - AC/DC
My brother used to listen to a lot of AC/DC. Got me into a little bit of their stuff. Just great, balls to the wall rock. Video

11. "Don’t Stop Believin'" - Journey
I thought Steve Perry had a GREAT voice. This one brings back memories of being in choir in High School. This was a sing along we always did. Video (live in Tokyo)

12. "How Will I Know" - Whitney Houston
So high on the list? Hmmm... I like a couple of others better, but okay. Whitney seemed to be on top of the world at this point and nothing could stop her. I'm waiting to see if now that she dumped Bobby and supposedly got clean, she'll have this triumphant comeback. Stay tuned. Video

13. "With Or Without You" - U2
I remember getting a cassette tape of The Joshua Tree and thinking it the most brilliant thing. I adore that album, and this is one of my favorite tracks by U2. Ever. Should have been a titch higher IMHO. Over Whitney's anyway. Video

14. "Walk Like An Egyptian" - The Bangles
LOVED The Bangles. This is a trifle of a piece really, but fun. I remember seeing them live when they opened for George Michael on his "Faith" tour. I had been looking forward to seeing them, and we were late getting to the venue. Got there just as they started in on this song and everyone was up and "walking like Egyptians". So much fun. Video

15. "Jump" - Van Halen
Ah the days of that preening, sexy "Diamond Dave". Yeah, baby. Video

16. "Need You Tonight" - INXS
I got into INXS through this album, "Kick". Remember well the video for this one, and yes, Michael Hutchence was indeed quite hot. He was amazing. Video

17. "Here I Go Again" - Whitesnake
Okay, okay, who can forget Tawny Kitaen's car dancing? This song is good too... I sing along when it comes on. Video

18. "Come On Eileen" - Dexy's Midnight Runners
"Toora loora toora loo rye ay..." This one makes me smile. It does. Video

19. "Time After Time" - Cyndi Lauper
My favorite Cyndi track. She sounds awesome on this. Video

20. "Jessie’s Girl" - Rick Springfield
"And she's watchin' him with those eyes. And she's lovin' him with that body, I just know it. And he's holdin' her in his arms late late at night..." I had a friend who was SO big on Rick at the time... this song always reminds me of her. LOL! Video

I liked a few Cure songs... this was one I liked quite a bit. Video

The video just made this song, IMO. Great stuff to sing along with your girlfriends on a night out. LOL!! Video

Another one where the video just made the song, it was so innovative. Video

This is one of my favorite tracks of theirs. And one of their most popular. Loved the video. Video

It's about the plight of Vietnam veterans upon returning home from the war... how awfully and shamefully we treated them. I had to laugh when Reagan adopted it as his campaign song. Video

HELL yeah. And the video is classic. Video

I'm getting antsy. September is rolling to a close (finally... four days left) and my favorite month of the whole year is upon us once again! October! Time for Halloween Month Movie A Night, and I now have my Halloween '06 Playlist in progress for the ol' iPod.

I've been using the same playlist (see it here) the past two years and will probably still have it out as well. But this year, something different struck me. Horror movies! Turn it on again...

I thought I'd treat myself since I feel pretty good about getting a brand new job, so I visited Amazon. I purchased the 3 CD set Genesis: Platinum Collection. I couldn't pass this one up for it is that cool.

I wasn't really keenly aware of the band, I'm afraid, till the Phil Collins led era, with their really catchy, mainstream stuff and great videos. I did know they'd had something of a cult following as a prog rock phenomenon in the 70s when led by Peter Gabriel. So loving Peter because of his earlier solo hits post Genesis, I thought I'd investigate. I dug up "Supper's Ready" which is really great in that pretentious, long, prog rock kinda way. Clocking in at a whopping 23 minutes, I think it's an incredible piece.

This set is something that I think anybody who enjoys Genesis, even if for just the 80s Phil Collins fronted hits, should own. It neatly ties up the best of everything the band has done since the beginning. A perfect career retrospective. I mean to give an example of just how crazy divided the "eras" were and the fan base each brought in, Phil says in the liner notes that there were fans that came to shows in the 80s that didn't even know he played drums. :)

I mean, everything is here that counts. Well, pretty much. CD 1 includes all that commercial 80s stuff, like No Son of Mine, Mama (which is crazy good, I love it) , Home By the Sea, That's All, and Land of Confusion. CD 2 includes the post Gabriel early Collins fronted transitional period, with songs like Misunderstanding, Turn It On Again, and A Trick of the Tail. CD 3 is all prog rock goodness, with stuff from The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, and the aforementioned Supper's Ready from Foxtrot among a few others.

The only little niggling I have is that the version of Tonight, Tonight, Tonight on here is edited. That one should have remained in tact, full length IMO, as it's a great song.

I will leave you with some downloadable Genesis goodness. Five songs. Enjoy it. And let me know what you think.

RIP Bruno Kirby 1949 - 2006

LOS ANGELES Aug 16, 2006 (AP)— "Bruno Kirby, a veteran character actor known for playing the best friend in two of Billy Crystal's biggest comedies "When Harry Met Sally" and "City Slickers," has died. He was 57.

Kirby died Monday in Los Angeles from complications related to leukemia, his wife Lynn Sellers said in a statement Tuesday. He had been recently diagnosed with the disease."

This one was just brought to my attention reading a board on IMDb and I had to comment on it... blog it.

Mom just a couple of weeks ago came home with the DVD and she and I sat down and watched it last Saturday night.

Mind you, I hadn't seen the movie in a few years. But the second you'd hear Fats say "We're gonna be a staaaaar." Well.... yeah. Creep out time. About that voice. It's indeed that of Anthony Hopkins. On the film, he worked in tandem with ventriloquist Dennis Alwood, who appears in an in depth interview on the extra "Fats and Friends" on the DVD release. Alwood trained Hopkins how to throw his voice and did most if not all of the manipulation of the dummy, where the voice was all Hopkins. Alwood worked Fats and did some of "the voice" on the DVD extra, but you could tell it wasn't the same voice. I've also heard Hopkins talk as Fats in an interview so yes... I know for certain it was him entirely.

I hadn't seen this particular trailer (TV spot) since I was, no joke, 12 going on 13 years old. I remember it SO well. I was staying the night (my parents were out of town for the weekend) at my grandmother's house on the lake (there's boooodies in Lake Meeeeeelody...) in Indiana, and it was the middle of the night. I believe just around or right after midnight.

My aunt and I were watching television and here comes ol' Fats reciting his little poem.

My aunt has had a fear and loathing of dolls since she was little. She was around 19 at the time I believe when this came out. She completely just blanched and freaked out. Me too. We didn't go to bed right away like we'd planned on doing when that commercial aired... ehm... needless to say. *whimper*

Actually this is my second viewing since the one I described above... this trailer is included in "Fats and Friends" at the very end. This ended up being pulled and another one used, as kids all over America were getting freaked and parents were calling in and saying you know what you're scaring my kid change the trailer! LOL!!!

Anyway, yeah. Nice to see you again, Fats old boy. *shudder*

Although now it's taken on a more serious tone, hasn't it?

TSA has just announced that due to the recent foiled terrorism plot, no liquids are allowed to be carried on to flights. That's water, cola, coffee, shampoo, body wash... none of it.

While inconvenient, I can't say as I mind. I mean, if it's a thing between passenger and crew safety and a little inconvenience.

And really? I'm glad they're limiting carry ons. The overhead bins get overstuffed, people cram all kinds of things in their carry on bags, and it just takes up time while they huff and puff trying to make it fit, and then you have to wait while they drag it down from up there.

If we had everything packed and checked, and only carried on absolute necessesities anyway it would be MUCH better. That's how I travel anyway. I usually only ever have my purse with me on the plane, so it really doesn't affect me that badly I guess.

"My teenage angst bullshit now has a body count."

Previously I mentioned the buzz about a sequel to "Sixteen Candles". Well now there's buzz about a sequel to "Heathers", the 1989 black comedy starring Winona Ryder and Christian Slater. The film has achieved a cult following and status.

As seen in this week's Entertainment Weekly:

"According to Winona Ryder, she and Heathers scripter Daniel Waters--both at work on the dark comedy Sex and Death 101--are drumming up a sequel to the 1989 cult classic. 'I've been [arguing], 'There's Heathers in the real world!' she says. 'We have to keep going.'"

I think a sequel would be interesting and I'd love it, but it's been bandied about for at least the past ten years or so. Therefore I'll believe it when I see it.

As a morbid aside, regarding Kim Walker, who played Heather Chandler (Heather #1). One of Heather Chandler's quotes was "Did you eat a brain tumor for breakfast?". Sadly, Kim died of a brain tumor in 2001 at the age of 32.

After like the first couple of minutes of this special on VH1 (on as I write this) and seeing Mick Jagger pop up (gotta love the man he does deadpan so well LOL!) I smelled a Rutles type thing allllll over this one. At least in this case, the band is real, they just faked out the back story and placed them in the 70s.

Who Is Platinum Weird indeed.

I saw this movie for the first time in a bit last week, and was reminded how fabulous the soundtrack is! Headed over to iTunes and was uber disappointed because they only have part of the album available. Then decided to go to Amazon and check it out. Mostly, also disappointing. Covers for quite a bit, which in and of themselves are not a bad thing, Marilyn Manson does a really good "Highway To Hell" for instance. But no. It missed the mark in so many ways.

I need the real deal. So headed to the reviews and comments...

Okay until I heard Molly Ringwald hinting at it recently, I had lost hope for a "Sixteen Candles" sequel. Now I'm hearing she finally agrees on a script!

“I’ve turned it down for years. I couldn’t see how it would work,” she said. “Now, it seems right.”

As much as I adore Sixteen Candles, I'm strangely not as excited as I thought I'd be for a sequel. But since there appears to be one in the works for real, called "32 Candles", I have a couple of provisos:

John Hughes all the way. Otherwise, no.

Michael Schoeffling. Jake, that hottie. What's the point without seeing what happened with he and Sam?

Now that Molly has agreed, Anthony Michael Hall *must* be on board. I just have to see what happened to Farmer Ted! Dorks rule!!

RIP Billy Preston 1946 - 2006

PHOENIX –" Billy Preston, the exuberant keyboardist who landed dream gigs with the Beatles and the Rolling Stones and enjoyed his own series of hit singles including “Outta Space” and “Nothing From Nothing,” died Tuesday at 59.

Preston's longtime manager, Joyce Moore, said Preston had been in a coma since November in a care facility and was taken to a Scottsdale hospital Saturday after his condition deteriorated.

“He had a very, very beautiful last few hours and a really beautiful passing,” Moore said by telephone from Germany.

Preston had battled chronic kidney failure, and he received a kidney transplant in 2002. But the kidney failed and he has been on dialysis ever since, Moore said earlier this year. "

I had no idea! So sad to hear. He really was an amazing keyboardist.

Paul Gleason has passed away.

"Paul Gleason, a veteran of 60 movie roles including the detention-dispensing school principal in 1985's The Breakfast Club, died in a Burbank, Calif., hospital Saturday of mesothelioma, a rare form of lung cancer linked to asbestos, said his wife, Susan Gleason. He was 67."

This one took me by suprise, I had no idea he was so ill.

I can't think of him without thinking of Judd Nelson (John Bender) asking him if he knew Barry Manilow raided his wardrobe, and hearing him say "Don't mess with the bull, young man. You'll get the horns!" He was so tied to that role, actually, he parodied it in "Not Another Teen Movie!" by reprising a Vernon-esque principal, even citing the same dialogue as he did in Breakfast Club. RIP, Paul.

Hope everyone's enjoying their Memorial Day Weekend so far. It's a gorgeous one here in South Florida. I actually spent all morning on the beach and it was loverly. Got my iPod and settled in for some people watching.

I wish I'd have taken my digital camera along, there are always interesting things and people to see. Saw a guy walk down the beach who could have been Truman Capote. I'm serious. The height, the walk, just his carriage, everything. I chuckled. He had on a straw hat and dark glasses, white cotton shirt and khaki hiking shorts. I swear if I'd heard him speak and he sounded like Truman I'd have just died. LOL!!

Many people with kids and etc. enjoying the afternoon.

Now it's the Indy 500, and we'll probably have fried chicken, corn on the cob, mashed potatoes, and cole slaw for dinner in a bit.

The Brangelina offspring has arrived! And so has the Stefani-Rossdale bundle!

Once again the parenting skills of one Britney Jean Spears is under scrutiny.

1. Another car incident. This time, Britney was tooling around town in her Mini Cooper convertible with Sean in his car seat. Okay, fine, right? The thing is, she had him facing front. One should ALWAYS have a baby under a year old in a rear facing car seat. Another is that he looks to be improperly strapped in. I'm pretty sure if this had been witnessed by a policeman, he'd have cited her. If there was a collision goodness forbid, Sean could have possibly sustained permanent injuries and damage.

2. Just on the newswires today, she *almost* dropped him. It's been reported that she stumbled as she left the Ritz Carlton in New York yesterday, with a beverage in one hand in Sean in her other arm. She tripped up on her long pants, stooped low and steadied herself with the help of a quick thinking and close by bodyguard, Sean's little orange cap falling to the ground as his head fell back.

Damn, Britney. Just... I don't know what to think. And she's *pregnant* again?! Oh Lord.
